TIME magazine has discovered blogs, including one of my regular reads, Blog Sisters; and the bizarre practice of Friday Cat Blogging [I see they do not credit the New York Times, which first broke this incredible story.] They also note that:
Most Bloggers Are Women
Men may have taken the lead in the early (read: geeky) days of blogging, but that's not the case now. According to a survey of more than 4 million blogs by Perseus Development, 56% were created by women. More bad news for the boys: men are more likely than women to abandon their blog once it's created. Call blogging a 21st century room of one's own.
Several folks are posting lists of their favorite blogs of 2004, including Fimoculous, Kottke and Radio Free Blogistan. These lists can be good places to find blogs you've missed, or validation for having already discovered the best.
And speaking of bests, several best-blog competitions are currently in progress:
Nominations are being accepted (until December 31st) for the 2004 Canadian Blog Awards. Categories are: Best Blog; Best Liberal Blog; Best Conservative Blog; Best Group Blog; Most Humourous Blog; Best Non-Political Blog; Best New Blog; and Best Blog Design.
Nominations are closed for the 2004 Koufax Awards for lefty bloggers. The American Street has developed The Perranoski Prizes, as a supplement to Wampum's awards, with additional categories. Lists of nominated blogs should be posted soon, and provide yet another resource for those of us who already read far too many blogs.
Nominations close tomorrow for the BoB Awards. Still time to nominate your favorite "small" blogs in various categories, and they have added a Big-Name Blogger category, since folks kept nominating them.
I'm sure I've missed some, but that's enough for today. After the first of the year, I'll try to do a round-up post of all these.
Today is the day before the day before Christmas. You are all too busy to be thinking about this anyway.
Sit down and have a cup of tea. Look out the window. Breathe.

Can I have whiskey instead?

I vote for hot chocolate! Particularly the mocha kind.
And, alas, looking out my window would be much better if there were snow on the ground. Sadly, no such luck.

Great advice! I already try to do that almost every day. (It's more difficult on weekends.)

Merry Christmas, Sharon. I'd post pics of my cute Christmas critters, but my camera died this week. So I'll just enjoy yours :-0
