SB, I doubt any of those tools take into account things that load via javascript and delay the final rendering of your page that way -- things like blogrolls and various site badges (technorati, flickr) and the chatango widget. Now, things like that usually don't stop me from visiting you, but it might others (especially on slow connections).

Love,
Sel.

It loads fine for me, but I have DSL.

You can't please everyone.

Kate S.

It does a take a long time for me, but I'm on dial-up (28.8K) and lately, everything takes a long time to download, especially anything on MSN (email) or any of the blogs and forget about any blogger accounts. That said, there's enough papers on my desk rattling around that need to be disposed of, to keep me busy while I wait for pages to load.

Sometimes a well-prepared meal takes longer to arrive at the table, but that just makes savoring it more delicious, no?

When I was a 411 operator our average call length was about 20 seconds. I would notice that if it took me much longer to find a phone number for someone, say 30-40 seconds, people invariably asked, "Can't you find it? " or "Hey, what's taking so long?"

It's all about speed, the in and out, the I've been there and done that already. Your site loads fine. And even if it didn't, it's worth the wait.

Your page does take a long time to load, but that usually won't sway me from visiting. It may change the location I use to view your site (slower home connection vs. faster work connection) but that's all.

I get 6 k/sec - on a good day. But so what? It's the sidebar stuff that takes so long to load, and I don't care, I've seen it before. It's cool, it's part of the site's charm, but it's not essential to enjoying the posts. Most of the time, I read Watermark on Bloglines anyway. (Thank you for allowing full text and images to be displayed there, BTW.)

On the other hand, when I clicked on your Green Violet link just now, it took a couple of minutes *for that one page* to load, and even at that it didn't load properly. The opaque part that masks the background graphic didn't spread widely enough to allow me to read the comments with any real degree of legibility. Poor show.

The Heretik

Oy. I can only imagine how long my page takes to download. Ha.

Ha. Ha. Sorry. MSN stuff? Triple ha to the ho to the hee hee. Slate, owned once by Microsoft, would take even longer to open than Bush's unfortunate brain mass. Oy. Dial up is a dodo and whatever is broadaband today will be replaced by something else tomorrow. Technology is a tool for those who will use it.

I think whatever makes you happy, SB, works for me. Not that what works for me should matter. You have tons of talent that I would wait for however long. But you already know that.
Bueno.

mjones

Well worth any wait.

Great Gaia, have we become so rushed that a minute or two here or there, just sitting with ourselves, becomes intolerable? It surely took CB longer to email you than to wait for your site to load.

SB

Actually, the person did not email me; I caught it through Technorati.

I so much appreciate the feedback here. My readers are the Best!
