Virtual Cats, Again

Last week I got a note from:

Neko face banner

Nekoface International is owned and operated by cats from the future (the year 2009).  The creatures from Nekoface.com create clothing fashions, cat music, and other forms of art that express their everyday adventures living in the city of Shinbun.  The company is named after a cat (nekoface), who is the president and CEO of Nekoface International and was created over 100 years ago.

... which reminded me that it's time to do another Virtual Cats post (the first one is here.) Virtual Cats is the second most popular search term that brings folks to Watermark, right after Orange Cats (oh, and there's another virtual cat, an orange one, there) so it's no doubt time to update it.

Nekoface insists that s/he is not virtual, but a real cat from the future; and forgives my confusion.

First, for virtual exhibition of real cats, go here:

And now, on to the virtual:

There are virtual cats that live on your computer:

Neko cat playing on the computer desktop  Neko on your (Windows) desktop

You can also put Neko on your website, if you can figure out how. I tried it on my Cats page, but no luck so far.

cartoon tabby cat   MeowMix offers a MeowPal for your desktop.

silly-looking wide-eyed cartoon cat   BlueCross has a pet for your (Windows) desktop. Is that the insurance company? I don't know -- I found it here.

very silly looking cartoon cat with its tongue out    pawsonline has several desktop cats, including this disreputable looking character. I'm not sure, but I think that these are all for Windows.

There are virtual cats that live in their own online world:

weird blue cat-like creature   Create a pet at Marapets, a free virtual pet site with 16 fun-filled virtual worlds and dress up dolls. (Warning: popups!)

possibly meant to be a cat    And, of course, there's Neopets. (Is that a cat? I can't tell...)

Ah, Cathy to the rescue! Here is a Neopet cat, named Dante:

tiger-ish cat    That's more like it ...

very sweet tuxedo cat   Felix used to be a download desktop cat (I have him on my Windows machine) but now seems to live only on his own very cool but very high-bandwidth website.

And there are virtual cats that can live on your blog or website:

white kitty opening and closing its eyes  You can adopt a kitty from Madame Alto's Cat House. I thought this little white one might look cool here, on the white background. There are six different kitties to choose from.

From LaoyoutCodez -- Warning! Truly obnoxious popups!

And finally, one of my favorites:

Now go have a real weekend.
