this is all there is
this winter garden
these bare and dead-leaved branches
these dreams of
eviction and exilejuncos and pine
siskins pecking
the snow, icedraping the fountain
this despairing friend
wrestling with godand this caged canary
filling the sun-
room with song

Deft. I like despair and the canary - so ambiguous.

I have been seeing snap or snapshot poems
for the first time this week. Can you explain
the concept for me?

Snapshot poems are a project of the PoetryEtc list. Here I steal directly from the intro to the snapshots archive:
Poetryetc is a listserv relating to poetry and poetics which provides a forum for poets to debate their critical and creative work. The list has over the years run a number of projects for its members, of which Snapshots has been the most enduring.
Every Wednesday, Poetryetc members are invited to post short poems on any subject or in any form they chose. The idea is to make a poetic collage of instamatic “snaps” of that day that reflected the international membership of the list. The project has generated an astounding number of poems from a very broad range of poets.
We also have snapshot poems archived at The Drunken Boat.
