I can hardly bring myself to write this post.
There's this cool new Flickr toy: dopiaza's set generator, which allows you to automatically create new sets on flickr based on various criteria such as interestingness, date posted and tags, or even from a random set of photographs.
Great idea. I decided to do it -- to replace my "Your Favorites" set with a "Most Interesting" set.
So I deleted the "Your Favorites" set.
And all the photos in it.
All my best-loved, and no-doubt best, photos.
Anyone who blogged them, including me, now has a This photo is currently unavailable box instead of a photo in their post.
I still have these photos, on my computer -- I hope -- but will not be able to remember all of them. And they won't be at the same URL, so no automatic post fixing.
Believe me, I am very, very sorry.
mmmm. bummer. there are definite disadvantages in the Virtual World...

Yah --- who said technology adds to progress?
So sorry you had this disaster!

So, wait -- you delete a SET and all the photos in it go away, too? That's crazy!
Great graphic, BTW.

Oh no! Putting my Pollyanna hat on I guess it's better to lose those than all your posts? But still, that's such an annoying thing to happen (and really, shouldn't there be safeguards in Flickr to prevent it happening?)

Oh, they do. Some of us are safeguard-proof. Especially after a long bout of sleeplessness.
