[I'm doing a series of posts on resources for digital art journalers and collage artists, beginning with digital designers who focus on art journaling. I'm linking to designer blogs or Facebook pages, rather than (or in addiition to) shops, since designers sometimes move shops, and often do guest spots at shops other than their own.]
Marta Van Eck is totally unique. Her work resembles no one else's. She is an artist. Though she does use vintage items in her kits, nearly everything she offers is hand-drawn or painted, quirky, and full of personality. Here, for instance, is a page I made with seven different Marta kits:
No one's work makes me giggle like Marta's does. For her About Me page (which is, of course, interesting) Marta uses a Q&A format:
Describe your style.
Bizarre, unique and specific .
What is one thing about digital scrapbooking that you couldn't live without?
Designing hand painted characters. I start with the sketch in my copy-book then I develop it with graphic tablet and software ( mostly I am using gimp). It is the way how Einstein ( I like Chemistry) or Ebenezer Scrooge ( Christmas Carol) were created.
Marta was born in Poland, lives in Germany, and considers her painting "quite tolerable." She says:
The reason why I love scrapbooking is that this kind of art give me and the other the possibility to create some other reality, other world - better, more colourful fill with happiness and laugh.
And she succeeds. But she's not fluffy; her work also sometimes has a dark, intruiguing edge to it. Here is her take on Wonderland:
Sometimes she's downright goofy:
And I totally love her humor:
I've been using Marta's work from very early on, and am delighted to be on her Creative Team. Here is Marta's shop at Deviant Scrap. Here is Marta's Facebook Page. Here is Marta's blog. Here are Marta's Freebies.
And here are a few of my pages made with her work:
