Mariah, my beloved goddaughter, came to me in July, after a year of unrelenting pain and inability to get good care as an uninsured, working and poor adult. Finally so ill she could no longer work, and desperate for good medical care, she gave up her home in Seattle and came here for help.
We have been fortunate here, with assistance from Partnership Health Center and a compassionate gynecologist, Dr. Scott Wyman at Community Hospital.
The past few months have been difficult for us both, as we each struggle to adapt to the changes in our living circumstances, extremely tight finances, and the physical/medical issues both of us live with; Mariah's by far more intense and hopefully soon mended. She is now in early recovery from major surgery, but the prognosis is good.
