Cat Valentine Carnival

Are you hiding from Valentine's Day?

You are too young, but I know you've heard all those stories from your barnyard friends, all the disappointments -- too-small diamonds, too-large lingerie: 

Nuts?? There's nuts in these chocolates! You know I hate nuts!!

And I'm allergic to roses. Who were you thinking of? Huh?

Well, tough kitties!

Come on out -- this year will be different.

 

The Carnival of the Cats Valentine Celebration will be here at Watermark on Sunday. And since we know that all cats are gentle, loving, affectionate, and considerate souls, this celebration should be filled with soft compliments and delicate flowers. Every gift shall be thoughtfully chosen and graciously received. Delicacies will be politely shared.

Crazy Cat Ladies

When I showed this to my friend Kesa, she counted the cats, and said: That's not enough.

She has nine; these, and one more that is camera shy:

CUTE! Cats

This special Friday Cat Blogging post is dedicated to PrairieMary, who says that cats aren't cute:

. . . cats are not CUTE! . . . They have "edge" and insight and moxie -- they are seductive, duplicitous and morally impaired. They'll love you until a sardine comes along -- so how cute is that?

Squibs and Crackers are at this minute wrestling under my feet, wailing and growling and trying to snap each other's spines. Not CUTE!

Well, OK, so she has a point -- but a questionable one from someone who names her cats Squibs and Crackers. Just look at Boo and tell me she's not cute:

Neighbor Kitties; Lucky Kitties; Kinda Kitties

One of the fun things about holidays is the opportunity to take care of the neighbors' cats. This is Phoebe, who hated me on sight (when she was teeny) and has never changed her mind, except when Nancy is gone. Then, I'll do:

And this is Oscar, who appeared one day at the bird feeder, and after a week or so of advertising and neighborly negotiation, went to live with Phoebe and Nancy. Oscar is very very happy to have a home with a lap and a feline companion; when the outside doors open, he stays far away from them:
