I found the Death Test at MOLLY.COM:
This is sooner than I'd planned... and is it really possible to die of loneliness? For an introvert, to die of loneliness? Is that the same thing as a heart attack? (I messed with that image, btw.)
Then I found What's Your Fortune? at Scientist, Interrupted:
Your Fortune Is |
|
Hmm, kisses. I'm going to get kisses...
... and, from the same source (this seems to be a silly scientist -- the best kind) What Chinese Year Should You Have Been Born Under?
You Should Have Been Born Under: |
You are totally loyal, faithful, and honest. However, you don't trust others to be as ethical as you are! * Straight forward and direct, you really aren't one for small talk. * You are a great listener - and an agreeable companion when you're in a good mood! * You are most compatible with a Tiger or Horse. |
Finally, from Dick Jones, THE ACME SELF-ANALYSIS KIT:
Others see you as sensible, cautious, careful and practical. They see you as clever, gifted, or talented, but modest. Not a person who makes friends too quickly or easily, but someone who's extremely loyal to friends you do make and who expect the same loyalty in return. Those who really get to know you realize it takes a lot to shake your trust in your friends, but equally that it takes you a long time to get over it if that trust is ever broken.
That's probably pretty close. To take this test, go here first. Then, and only then, go here.
So, we have a bit of prognostication, a bit of self-analysis, and a bit of silliness. A good way to exit a year, no?

You Are 16% Emo |
|
I had to look this up:
I am, at present, emoting because Watermark won't come up in IE on Windows. My emoting is, however, a bit more cursing than sobbing.
Any ideas?
UPDATE: Fixed, I think. Also, I'm thinking about going back to two columns. I know, this is getting ridiculous....
UPDATE 2: Well, Watermark is back to a two-column layout. I know there were advantages to the three-column format, but this just feels more like me.
I thank you for your patience...

Your Vote Score: 12% Republican 88% Democrat |
In fact, you're so strongly Democrat, a political career (or at least some activism )may be in your future. |
We have to do something distracting, while cable news pretends it has some.
Hmm, why am I more Democrat this time?
in Quizzes | Permalink | Comments (0)
You Are 40% Democrat |
If you're still voting Republican, maybe it's time that you stop. |
You Are 12% Republican |
You're a staunch liberal, and nothing is going to change that! |
This must mean I'm 48% something else.
No surprise there.
Via Shelley I found ScienceBlogs (gee, thanks, more must-read) and via them I found this quiz, which they are all (OK, many of them) in a very macho competition, taking:
Why is my score so low? Well, because I got all the science questions wrong, that's why. Except In E=MC2, what does C stand for? C is the speed of light.
I'm pretty sure. I watch public television.
And I don't have enough RAM on my laptop. And I don't have enough gadgets. Or rather, not the right kind of gadgets.
Oh, and also, there was a girl-picture to react to, but no boy-picture. What's up with that?
Actually, I scored higher than I expected.
Good thing I have no woundable macho ego.
This has made me recall my most intense regret: that I did not study science and math through high school and college. That, in my day, girls were not expected to do so, and my passion for the subjects was not strong enough to overcome my compliance.
Once, in a dream, I saw a fourth spacial dimension. I experienced it. I hesitate to put it this way, but it was ... awesome.
If a physicist had that dream, might it have offered some clue to the workings of the universe? I haven't even the language to articulate it.
I can't do the math.
I could have predicted this:
Heuristic, detached, and analytical to a fault, you are most like The Oracle. You are able to tackle any subject with a fine toothed comb, and you possess an ability to pinpoint nuances and shades of meaning that other people do not have and cannot understand.
Accomplishment and realization of ideas are, for you, secondary to the rigorous exploration of ideas and questions -- you are, first and foremost, a theorist. You hate authority, convention, tradition, and under no circumstances do you accept a leadership role (although, you will gladly advise leadership when they're going astray, whether they want you to or not).
Abstraction and generalities are your interests, details and particulars are usually inconsequential and uninteresting. You excel at language, mathematics and philosophy.
You are typically easy-going and non-confrontational until someone violates one of the very few principles that you deem sacred, at which point you can fly into a rage. Although you possess a much greater understanding of process and systems than the people around you, you are always conscious of the possibility that you've missed something or made a mistake.
You don't tend to become attached to particular theories, and will immediately discard mistaken notions once they're revealed to be incorrect (but you don't tolerate iconoclasts who try to discredit validated theories through the use of fallacies and bad data).
Despite being outwardly humble, you probably think of yourself as being smarter than most other people. That's because you are. In fact, in your dealings with people your understanding of their motives is so expansive that you know what they're going to say before they say it, and in world affairs, you usually know what is going to take place before it actually does. This ability would make you unbeatable in debates if only you were a little less pensive about your own conclusions, and a little more outgoing.

Well, this might explain a lot:
This quiz is from a very intriguing site, utatis Mutandis, via the always intriguing Ivy -- and now that I know she is a DIPROSOPIC PARAPAGUS, seems even more so. Really, I have to say, this is the most mysterious quiz I have ever taken.
And then there's this one, via Patia, who is more sensitive than I. This test is less mysterious, and possibly less accurate, since most of the questions I answered 'sensitively' would have had different answers before I was ill:
Both of these images will get big if you click them. Go on, take the tests -- you know you wanna.
